Communications Minister Meets with Chinese Government Officials and Leading Technology Companies to Strengthen Partnerships in AI and Space
Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha, accompanied by Governor of the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) Eng. Haytham AlOhali and Saudi Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China Abdulrahman Al-Harbi, held a series of meetings in the People’s Republic of China with senior government officials and technology executives to discuss opportunities for partnership in artificial intelligence, the digital economy, technology transfer, space, and emerging technologies, further strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
Alswaha met with Minister of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China Yin Hejun, and the two sides discussed enhancing cooperation in artificial intelligence, the digital economy, technology transfer, and talent exchange programs, as well as expanding the presence of leading Chinese technology companies in the Kingdom.
In the space sector, Alswaha met with Administrator of the China National Space Administration (CNSA) and Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology Dr. Shan Zhongde to discuss opportunities for cooperation in space technologies, expanding partnerships in innovation, and developing capabilities related to the sector.
The minister of communications also met with the executive leadership of Moonshot AI, the developer of the Kimi large language model (LLM), to discuss the development of large language models and AI-powered generative technologies, as well as technology transfer and commercialization, supporting the growth of the Kingdom’s digital economy and emerging technologies.
In addition, Alswaha met with Chairman of ByteDance China Zhang Lidong to discuss cooperation in generative artificial intelligence, data centers, algorithm development, and large language models, as well as expanding the company’s presence in the Kingdom, contributing to the growth of the technology innovation ecosystem and enhancing the competitiveness of the digital economy.
These meetings build on the Kingdom’s efforts to forge high-impact international partnerships, attract advanced technologies and investments, develop national capabilities, and strengthen Saudi Arabia’s global presence in technology, artificial intelligence, and space.
