Communications Minister Holds Bilateral Meetings in Geneva to Strengthen Partnerships in AI and Digital Economy
Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha held a series of bilateral meetings during the Kingdom's participation in the United Nations Global Dialogue on AI Governance in Geneva. The meetings were attended by Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) President Dr. Abdullah Alghamdi, Governor of the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) Eng. Haytham Alohali, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations in Geneva Ambassador Abdulmohsen Khothaila. Alswaha's meetings were with Qatar's Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohammed Al Mannai; Pakistan's Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Khawaja; Costa Rica's Minister of Science, Innovation, Technology, and Telecommunications Paula Bogantes Zamora; and Barbados' Minister of Innovation, Industry Science and Technology Jonathan Reid. The discussions explored prospects for partnership between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the participating countries in the fields of artificial intelligence, the digital economy, digital infrastructure, and technical capacity building. They also addressed ways to enhance technological cooperation and expand opportunities for digital inclusion, supporting knowledge exchange and the development of high-impact partnerships that strengthen cooperation. The meetings formed part of the Kingdom's participation in the Global Dialogue on AI Governance, held on the sidelines of the AI for Good Global Summit 2026, reaffirming its commitment to advancing international cooperation, harnessing advanced technologies for the benefit of humanity and sustainable development, and building a more inclusive and trusted digital future.
