Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha met with President and CEO of Ericsson Börje Ekholm to discuss opportunities to expand the company’s investments in the Kingdom and strengthen collaboration in digital infrastructure, advanced 5G networks, cloud networks, artificial intelligence and automation, as well as innovation in emerging technologies.
According to a press release issued by the ministry today, the meeting also addressed ambitions to expand cooperation in supporting the development of networks and digital capabilities, building on the existing partnerships with Ericsson.
Both sides emphasized the importance of Saudi Arabia as an attractive market for high-quality investments in the telecommunications, technology, and artificial intelligence sectors, supported by an enabling environment for growth, a robust partnership ecosystem, and rapidly advancing national projects that contribute to expanding opportunities for innovation and development. This is reflected in Ericsson’s growing presence in the Kingdom through its regional headquarters in Riyadh, its partnerships with government entities and operators, and its advanced applications across key sectors.
Börje Ekholm said: “As Ericsson marks 150 years of shaping global communications, our half-century partnership with Saudi Arabia stands as one of our most defining chapters. From working on the Kingdom’s earliest telecom networks to enabling its leadership in 5G today, Ericsson’s journey in Saudi Arabia reflects decades of shared progress. Saudi Arabia continues to offer a highly attractive investment environment, driven by a clear long-term vision, strong digital ambition, and a growing innovation ecosystem.”
