Communications Minister Inspects Telecom Readiness for Hajj 1446 AH

Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha has inspected the readiness of telecommunications companies for Hajj 1446 AH as part of the Kingdom’s commitment to delivering an exceptional experience for pilgrims.
He visited the facilities of the national telecommunications and technology companies—stc, Mobily, Zain, and Tawal—and reviewed the network performance along with operational and emergency plans. He praised their dedication to delivering quality services to pilgrims and commended the vital role these national companies play in enhancing communication reliability and ensuring robust, high-efficiency digital connectivity at the densely populated holy sites.
Alswaha underscored that this level of preparation and readiness reflects the unwavering support of the wise leadership.
This year has seen significant advancement in the digital infrastructure across Makkah, the holy sites, and Madinah. The number of stations equipped with 5G and 4G technologies dedicated to serving pilgrims has surpassed 9,000, a growth of over 6% compared to last year’s Hajj.
Network connectivity has also been strengthened, with more than 2,000 kilometers of fiber optic cables enhanced within the holy sites, marking a 7% increase from the previous year. Additionally, over 10,500 free Wi-Fi access points have been deployed to better serve pilgrims. To support these efforts, more than 4,000 skilled digital professionals and technical engineers have been mobilized to maintain uninterrupted digital services throughout the Hajj season.
