Makkah Deputy Governor Reviews Digital Infrastructure Readiness at Holy Sites
Deputy Governor of Makkah Region Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, Vice Chairman of the Permanent Committee for Hajj and Umrah, chaired a meeting today to review the readiness of digital technologies and networks in Makkah and the holy sites ahead of the Hajj season 1446 AH.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha, along with senior leaders from the digital economy, space, and innovation sectors. Discussions focused on the preparedness of the digital ecosystem to support government and service agencies in delivering efficient, high-quality services to pilgrims.
The digital infrastructure has been enhanced to incorporate cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things, aiming to streamline the pilgrim experience, ensure safety, and improve operational efficiency throughout the Hajj season.
This year, digital infrastructure in Makkah, the holy sites, and Madinah has advanced significantly, with over 9,000 stations equipped with 4G and 5G technologies, representing an increase of more than %6 compared to last year’s Hajj season.
