MCIT and ICANN Organize Forum on DNS Operation and Security

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, represented by the Internet Center, in cooperation with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), organized a forum entitled “Operation and Security of the Domain Name System (DNS).” The forum aims to review ICANN’s roles, responsibilities and the most prominent updates about current DNS technologies and security threats. The forum also introduces initiatives and tools for enhancing protection, to contribute to raising awareness and developing capabilities in DNS.

 

The forum is organized in view of the importance of managing and security of the DNS and its impact on all Internet users, to protect it and reduce the risks it may be exposed to, in a way that protects data and increases its reliability on the Internet.

 

The forum, which was attended by representatives of relevant stakeholders, reviewed the DNS protection threats. Additionally, it touched on the importance of DNSSEC’s Secure Domain Name System (DNSSEC) feature. The forum touched on several topics, the notably tools and initiatives to enhance DNS security, Blockchain technology, DNS, updates and challenges.

 

ICANN is a non-profit organization that aims to maintain the security and stability of the Internet address system. The ICANN community consists of stakeholders represented by governments, the private sector, and civil and tech society, to advise and develop policies related to the Internet DNS.
